A perfect place for an ideal weekend from Dubai. Hatta is known for its magnificent and rich traditional culture. The beautiful journey from Dubai through the Hajar mountains to the small town of Hatta is surely worth a visit. Streets of Hatta says so much about the culture and vibes of the city. If you are someone who loves doing adventures, then this place is for you. With the adrenaline rush, zipline, Hatta heritage village, hiking, kayaking, glamping in the mountains, and horse riding, this place has so much to offer. Here are a few things on how you can plan your one-day trip to Hatta.
Time for kayaking at Hatta Dam
Hatta Dam was one of the highlights of my trip. As soon as I entered, the first glimpse of the scenic view left me stunned. My eyes did not blink for a few seconds by looking at the magnificent tall mountains with gorgeous colorful kayaks surrounding the crystal clear sea. The climate here is comparatively less compared to Dubai and is most crowded during the cooler months of winter.
There is a single/double kayak, pedal boat, donut boat, and many other options available at one’s disposal. We opted for the pedal kayak which costs AED 150 for an hour.
Kayaking in the sea with the quackling ducks and tiny fishes in the sea made the evening blissful and relaxing. The panoramic view of the tall mountains was breathtaking.
After a special session of Kayak, there are a few stalls serving hot tea, coffee, and quick snacks. Also, there are a few food trucks near the car parking area. Hot luqaimat with a dollop of honey with roasted sesame seeds on the top and fresh rigag is prepared by local Emirati ladies. Horse ride is also available on a rental basis.
Adventures At Wadi Hatta Hub
Wadi Hatta Hub is a famous spot in Hatta and a treat for adventure lovers. There are unique outdoor and fun activities for adrenaline junkies.
Zorbing and Football Zorbing is one of the most fun activities where you are rolling in a plastic ball down the hill. There are two lanes for moving one for beginners and another for the ones who love to take on new challenges and costs AED 55.
Football zorbing is where we were covered from the top to the knee in an inflatable plastic ball and had to play football. What a fun experience it was while kicking the balls and crashing onto our friends and falling and rolling on the ground. This fun activity is pocket-friendly and costs 35 AED.
E-Bikes are a great way to explore the mountainous regions of Hatta. The electric bike helps to reduce the effort of pedal pushing and offers a powerful ride.
Archery is a popular sport in UAE and here you can polish your archery skills if you love it. It costs 50 AED for adults and 35 AED for children. Children above eight years can enjoy this activity.
Axe throwing, cannon, tube sliding, mountain cart, and zipline are worth experiencing, especially for adrenaline addicts.
Hatta Heritage Village
In addition to the fun outdoor activities, Hatta Heritage Village should be on your list to experience the cultural heritage vibes of the village. The historic place gives us an idea of how the Emiratis lived back in ancient times.
I was mesmerized to see that this place was reconstructed in 2001, but they made sure to use the same materials which were used centuries ago to keep the same essence of the place intact. There are old forts and towers. One of the main attractions is the house of the local ruler called ‘Bait Al Wali’. As we entered, we saw the bedrooms, children’s bedrooms, kitchen, etc. Also, there is a museum in the village that displays traditional Emirati utensils, carpets, handicrafts, jewelry, musical instruments, etc. There is a palm tree farm called the Al Sharia site.
We got to know about how the crops and irrigation system took place for the people who survived there even when there was no rainfall. After exploring the village, we rested at a much-needed relaxing spot called Al Barza in the outdoors. We had dates and Arabic coffee there.
