A blend of old Dubai and the new architecture of Dubai makes Al Seef distinct and vibrant with its charming traditions and culture. It is located on Dubai Creek’s waterfront, making it a very peaceful place away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The best way to explore is to stroll around on the streets of the Al Fahidi historical neighborhood.
What is Al Seef?
Al Seef has yet to become popular as it opened its door before the pandemic. Al Seef is located on the Dubai Creek waterfront surrounding high-end buildings, modern architecture, and traditional and historical views of Emirati culture. It made me feel like I am stepping back in the past and witnessing the beautiful old Dubai. Dubai Creek is a pearl diving port and is a source of livelihood for the local fisherman and merchants crossing the calm water in the dhow cruises. Wandering on the streets of Al Seef for its marina view, fascinating boardwalks, dining experience, and enjoying live events should definitely be on your list.
How to get to Al Seef?
Al Seef is located in Bur Dubai.
If you are coming from Deira, the best way to enjoy Al Seef is to come by Abra (water taxi) ride which starts from Baniyas station to Al Seef.
It gives a spectacular scenic view of the Dubai skyline.
If you are coming by metro, the nearest station is Burjuman and Sharaf DG stop and take a walk of 15 minutes.
My recommended time would be late afternoon around 4 pm.
Sip a coffee at the vintage-themed Starbucks.
Al Seef’s Starbucks is one of the most popular cafes in the area. The building looks rustic and gives an old kind of vibe. An ideal place to sip on your iced caramel mocha by the waterfront in a breezy and calm atmosphere. I personally loved this place and took so many pictures. Also, this joint definitely deserves a snap on your Instagram for its vibe.
Enjoy a meal by the Creek
A wide range of restaurants and cafes at Al Seef is available to enjoy a scrumptious meal and spent a blissful evening. Emirati, Italian, American, Lebanese, and Indian have it all.
Dukkan Burger is one of the places which serves the best burgers in Dubai. It’s one of my favorite spots for burgers. American – Arabian fusion gives a really savory twist to the burgers. Hotdogs, fries, Mexican bites, and chicken and beef burgers are available here. If you are someone who likes to try something new, then you are in for a surprise- go for their camel burger.
We visited a joint called Nablus-which is famous for its traditional Kunafeh and Arabian food. The zaatar fatayer was well made and the flavors burst in the mouth. The Kunafa was delicious and crunchy and the sweetness was perfect. The ambiance gave me Emirati vibes.
Choki Dhani is a restaurant that serves Rajasthani food with a contemporary twist. When you visit this place, it gives us ancient vibes of the culture. The hospitality is remarkable. A royal cuisine that will surely remind you of home-cooked food. My recommended time to visit this place would be for dinner. The delicious meal at the waterfront with the sparkling lights of Deira in the city is surely going to be a lifetime experience.
Al Hamideh serves the best Arabic food in town. Do not miss this Syrian fare for its refreshing and fresh juices, soups, Mezza, and mixed grills.
Also. do try the cotton with ice cream dessert in which the ice cream is housed inside a dome-shaped cotton candy, with pistachios garnished on the top.
If you are looking for a place for a lunch date, then Canopy by Hilton Dubai Al Seef is a perfect place for a Mediterranean lunch by the waterfront.
961LB is among one top restaurants in Dubai serving Lebanese food. Live entertainment shows, dance performances, and events take place. Authentic Lebanese food with cocktails, salads, and enjoying live shows makes this joint a must-visit.
For all the vegans out there, yes you heard it right! ILA restaurant and cafe makes fresh Arabic food and has curated a plant-based menu to delish your tastebuds. Soups, salads, and grills are on their menu. Burgers, pasta, and pizzas are also included on the menu.
Time for some Shopping
Al Seef Heritage Souk is an ideal place for shopping for souvenirs, handicrafts, jewelry, and kaftans. Emirati long gowns, traditional Honduras( Arabic men wear) home decor, etc. You will find an amazing collection of beautiful rugs to enhance your living room. It is handwoven and the designs are intricate and detailed so you would want to take them home with you.
You will notice different kinds of honey, frames, and vintage and antique items while wandering the streets of Al Seef. Scarves, shawls, and abayas are accessible within one’s reach.
Fun at the Museum of Illusion
Al Seef is home to the Museum of Illusion which challenges your brain to play some mind games, puzzles, and mind-blowing brain teasers. This place is loved by grown-ups and kids as there is no age limit for having fun, Isn’t it?
There is an Infinity Room where it seems as if you are hanging from the roof or look like a giant or dwarf, it entirely depends on where you stand, and don’t forget to click some funny shots at this fun place. You can also shop for a few mind games to challenge your mind.
The entry ticket for an adult costs AED 80 and AED 60 for children aged 5-15 years. Kids below 5 years of age go free
.
The working hours are 10 AM-10 PM, but my recommendation would be to visit in the early afternoon to avoid the crowds.
